OK chaps, its time for the Corfe tour, exciting isn't it? I can now confirm the programme for the weekend, which will be;
Friday 20th Sept;
Meet at the Bankes Arms, Corfe Castle from 7.30pm or at the campsite. Carol will be at the Campsite from about 7.00pm and I will be manning the Bar of the Bankes Arms. It's a dreadful job, but somebody has to do it.
Saturday 21st Sept
Dance in the square at Corfe Castle. Board the 11.16am Steam Train for Swanage. Arrive Swanage Station and dance in the Forecourt. Walk to Red Lion for lunch (extensive bar menu) Real Ale & dance. Walk to sea front, dance paddle swim etc. Catch 5.05pm return train to Corfe Castle. Cream tea in the shadow of the Castle. Nancy Cousins, a Border side, have been invited to join us in Swanage. The return train fare is £5 per Adult (or £4.25 for 15+).
Dorset Buttons are holding a Ceilidh on Saturday evening and have invited us to it. It is at the Purbeck Middle School in Wareham and will feature the Bottle Bank Band with John Miller calling. There is a Real Ale bar and tickets are £3.30p each.
Sunday 22nd Sept:
Drive to the Square and Compass at Worth Matravers. Dance and walk to Winspet for the view. Dorset Buttons may be joining us here, if not to dance, at least to cheer.
The accommodation will be camping at the Woodland Camping and Caravan Park, Glebe Farm, Bucknowle, (01929-480280) which is a short walk from Corfe Castle. To get there take the A351 from Wareham to Corfe Castle. Immediately before the Castle, turn right, signposted Church Knowle. After 3/4 mile there is a signpost on the right for the Woodland Camping and Caravan Park. We have a reserved pitch so look out for the dayglo DoT signs. The campsite costs £8 per couple (tent, car, etc.) per night.
We do need to have numbers for train tickets and for people who want to attend the Ceilidh, so please phone me as soon as possible and let me know if you will be coming and when.
That's about it. Many thanks to Carol for all her efforts to organise this and I look forward to seeing you all there.
